The Brown Foundation Institute of Molecular Medicine for the Prevention of Human Diseases (IMM) is a component of the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston located in the Texas Medical Center. The IMM occupies new state-of-the-art research facilities (230,000 square feet) that have been honored with seven awards for architectural design. The goal of the Institute is to discover major genetic and molecular mechanisms of disease in order to prevent disease or the complications of disease. The Research Center for Immunology and Autoimmune Diseases is currently seeking a mid-career PhD, MD, or MD/PhD scientist for appointment at the senior assistant professor or associate professor level. Although all areas of mucosal immunology will be considered, we are particularly interested in immunologic research of the gut mucosa with relevance to chronic intestinal diseases. The appointment will provide substantial start-up support. On-site core facilities available to IMM faculty include a barrier vivarium, transgenic mouse services, confocal microscopy, flow cytometry and cell sorting, high-throughput DNA sequencing, and mass spectroscopy. Cross appointments in basic science and/or clinical departments of The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston will be arranged as appropriate. Collaborations are available and encouraged with other faculty members of the Immunology Research Center as well as with faculty members of other Research Centers at the IMM (Diabetes and Obesity, Human Genetics, Cell Signaling, Cardiovascular Disease, Neurodegenerative Diseases, Nanotechnology, and Protein Chemistry).
