Postdoctoral Fellow (Req. 91)

Individual will study the interactions of Pattern Recognition Receptors (PRR) such as RIG-I and MDA5 with modified oligonucleotides. The successful candidate will examine the impact of administration of various modified oligonucleotides on host innate immune responses. The research project will focus on the relationship between oligonucleotide composition and host interferon responses. This position offers an opportunity for considerable creativity and innovation in a highly enriched research environment.

The successful postdoctoral fellow will develop and apply new and existing techniques in protein biochemistry, molecular biology, cell biology, genomics and virology to study oligonucleotide-PRR interactions and RNA biochemistry.

The ideal candidate will be highly motivated and have recently obtained a Ph.D. degree with a strong background in biochemistry, immunology, virology or cell/molecular biology. The candidate will be enthusiastic and able to work independently as well as with a team. Strong skills in protein and RNA biochemistry as well as molecular biology are essential. Hands on experience with cell culture and molecular biology/biochemical techniques such as cloning, northern and western blots, immunoprecipitation, and protein purification is required. Previous work in areas of virology and/or immunology is desirable but not required.
