BBSRC Funded Research Associate/Fellow

Applications are invited for the above post, based in the School of Biomedical Sciences. The post involves the cloning, recombinant expression and purification of mammalian ubiquitin-binding domains (UBDs) and proteins, as well as optimising methodologies for the bulk in vitro ubiquitination of model substrates. Experience in any or all of these areas/techniques is desirable.

This project forms part of a multidisciplinary programme of work (in collaboration with Dr Neil Oldham, School of Chemistry) directed towards the application of biological mass spectrometry to probe polyubiquitin modification of proteins, and the successful candidate will receive additional training in this area.

Candidates should possess, or expect to obtain shortly, a PhD or equivalent in biochemistry, molecular cell biology, or a related discipline.

Salary will be within the range £22,332 – £25,889 per annum, depending on qualifications and experience (£24,403 maximum without PhD). This post is available from 1 August 2008 and will be offered on a fixed-term contract for a period of one year.
