    <![CDATA[ <b><font size="3">Barcelona Centre for International Health Research<br>Postdoctoral Research Position</font></b> <br> <br> The <b>Barcelona Centre for International Health Research</b> (CRESIB - Centre de Recerca en Salut Internacional de Barcelona) is a new global health research institute developed by some of the leading academic and biomedical research institutions in Barcelona together with the Catalan Government as a response to the new international health challenges of the XXI century. The centre is located at the Universitat de Barcelona School of Medicine and Teaching Hospital (Hospital Clínic) campus in the heart of Barcelona. <br> <br> CRESIB's research programmes focus on Poverty-Related Diseases, Emerging, Re-Emerging & Immune-Preventable Diseases, Health & Migration and Health & Climate. CRESIB conducts a significant amount of its research in collaboration with a large network of research institutions in Europe, Asia, the Americas and Africa, and has a longstanding and close collaboration with the Centro de Investigação em Saúde da Manhiça (CISM) in Mozambique. <br> <br> CRESIB seeks an independent and active researcher to fill a postdoctoral position at its <b>Climate and Disease Program</b>, established in collaboration with the Climate Research Laboratory (<A HREF="http://www.lrclima.net/" TARGET=_blank>http://www.lrclima.net/</A>) at the Barcelona Scientific Park (PCB), to develop and coordinate future research activities in the following areas: <br> <br> <li /> Epidemiological modeling of infectious diseases<br> <li /> Modeling of climate and disease interactions<br> <li /> Assessment of climate impact on disease dynamics in current and future climates<br> <li /> Development of early warning systems for climate-driven diseases. <br> <br> The candidate will process new data for incorporation in model experiments; perform statistical analyses of model results; participate in conferences, publish and present research results and participate in national and international research collaborations on climate-disease dynamics. The candidate will coordinate with scientists at both institutions and will work in a multidisciplinary environment. Critical duties include: <br> <br> <li /> Apply for funding<br> <li /> Research team management and team building<br> <li /> Participation in the definition and planning of the research program in accordance with CRESIB's research commitments. <br> <br> The ideal candidate should hold a Ph.D. degree in climate science, ecology, mathematics, physics or numerical modelling or equivalent with <b>two years postdoctoral experience</b> in one of these areas. Requirements include very good physical and mathematical understanding, interest in programming (programming skills should include Fortran, Matlab or S-Plus, and the ability of working in Unix/Linux environments), good data analysis skills (linear algebra, differential equations, statistics, and ability to manage large datasets) and a high motivation for undertaking and setting up an independent and creative research line. Proven record of grantsmanship and scientific leadership and scientific resources management skills are also required. <br> <br> Working conditions include a friendly working atmosphere and scientific challenges in a modern technological environment. The contract is offered for an initial period of <b>3 years</b>.
