    <![CDATA[POSITION PURPOSE
The Human and Molecular Genetics Center is looking for a Postdoctoral Fellow in the area of common complex disease and stem cell biology. The HMGC consists of 28 Faculty and cutting edge molecular genetics technology, including NextGeneration sequencing.
 
ESSENTIAL DUTIES
 
1.      Designs, analyzes, and performs experiments to understand different aspects of common complex disease and stem cell biology. 
 
2.      Performs literature searches and prepares materials for publications and grants.
 
3.      Presents research results at laboratory, departmental, and scientific meetings.
 
4.      Obtains and maintains laboratory equipment and supplies, ensuring smooth and efficient operation of the laboratory.
 
 
OTHER DUTIES
 
Perform other duties as assigned, such as general lab maintenance including reagents and equipment.
 
 
MINIMUM POSITION QUALIFICATIONS
Appropriate education and/or experience may be substituted on equivalent basis 
 
Education:                    PhD in Molecular Biology, Genetics, or related field. 
 
Experience:                  Applicants must have a demonstrated expertise in molecular biology, knowledge of cell biology and knowledge of molecular genetic techniques. Experience in the field of regenerative medicine will be useful.
 
Certifications/Licenses: None
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES
Knowledge of scientific approach and methodologies. Ability to develop and follow research methodology and protocol. Knowledge of current technological developments/trends including hands-on experience with standard molecular biology and tissue culture techniques. Ability to read, understand, follow and enforce safety procedures. Ability to design, organize, and coordinate scientific research projects. Manual dexterity, creativity, flexibility, problem solving ability and the willingness to master new approaches as dictated by the scientific question. Laboratory skills as acquired in doctoral degree and graduate school coursework, or other work-related experience. Prefer hands-on experience with embryologic, molecular and biochemical techniques, manuscript preparation, and scientific presentations; willingness to work irregular hours when necessary. ]]>
