h3. MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology

Applications are invited for a Research Technician to work in Dr Robert Knight’s group in the MRC Centre for Developmental Neurobiology. The focus of the group is to understand the molecular and cellular basis for craniofacial development in the model organism, zebrafish. The position is a unique opportunity for a keen and enthusiastic individual to work in a research team and gain experience in laboratory based technical work.  

Duties will include performing molecular biology techniques, microinjection of zebrafish embryos, immunohistochemistry and animal husbandry of zebrafish. 

The successful candidate will have an honours B.Sc. degree in molecular biology or related subject and will have had previous experience of working in a research laboratory. He/she should be interested in genetics and biology, be able to work independently in an organised fashion and be willing to participate actively in research programmes in the group.

This post is available from mid-January 2010 for one year, with potential for renewal after this time.  

Starting salary will be offered on grade 4, currently at £24,449 per annum inclusive of £2,323 London allowance.
