*FACULTY POSITION IN BIOINFORMATICS/GENOME SCIENCE*

Departments of Behavioral Neuroscience and Medical & Molecular Genetics and the Oregon
National Primate Research Center
Oregon Health & Science University
Portland, Oregon

The Departments of Behavioral Neuroscience (BN) and Molecular & Medical Genetics (MMG) and the Oregon National Primate Research Center (ONPRC) invite applications from outstanding individuals for a tenure track position at the *Assistant Professor* (BN&MMG)/Staff Scientist (ONPRC) level. More senior individuals with exceptional credentials will be considered; however, applicants cannot be currently in a tenure track position. A Ph.D., M.D. or equivalent degree and strong evidence of research productivity is required; evidence of obtaining extra-mural grant support is highly desirable. Preference will be given to individuals with expertise in Bioinformatics but individuals with expertise in other areas of Genome Science will be seriously considered. The successful applicant must make a commitment to develop an independent research program that includes an emphasis on Behavioral Genetics and Non-Human Primates. In addition, it is expected that the successful candidate will contribute to an already successful collaborative environment and will excel in mentoring graduate students and post-graduate trainees. Salary and the start-up package are highly competitive. Ample laboratory space is available at both the Marquam Hill (BN & MMG) and West (ONPRC) Campuses, as is access to exceptional core research facilities that include Next-Generation Sequencing and high throughput genotyping. The Department of Behavioral Neuroscience is consistently rated in terms of extra-mural support as one of the top five US medical school neuroscience programs. Research in the department focuses on behavioral genetics, animal models of alcohol and substance abuse, aging, learning and memory and cognitive neuroscience. The Department of Molecular and Medical Genetics has strong basic and clinical research programs; areas of research within the department include molecular genetics, molecular biology, somatic cell genetics, cytogenetics, molecular cytogenetics, population genetics, biochemical genetics, and stem cell function.

The Oregon National Primate Research Center is one of eight primate centers built and supported by the National Center for Research Resources; the center has an outstanding record of research accomplishment in several areas including neuroscience, reproductive biology, gene/vaccine therapy and stem cell biology. The ONPRC is home to over 3,800 rhesus macaques, the living descendants of a 7 generation, 13,000+ pedigreed population. Of special relevance to this announcement is the ONPRC Primate Genetics Program, which supports the advancement of non-human primate genetic research through the establishment of genetic and genomic resources for the study of macaques.

Interested individuals should send a curriculum vitae, a research prospectus and the names and addresses of three references. Due to sources of funding for this position, applicants must be a US citizen or have a permanent visa. Applications will only be accepted in electronic format, must be submitted before 12/15/09 and should be submitted to the *Search Committee – Department of Behavioral Neuroscience* c/o thomason@ohsu.edu.

OHSU offers a comprehensive benefits package including: medical/dental/life insurance, short and long-term disability insurance, flexible spending accounts, health and wellness, transportation, savings, and retirement programs.
