Successful applicants will be expected to develop energetic, creative, independent research programs within an existing highly interactive scientific environment. The ideal candidate would benefit from preexisting expertise within NIAMS. This position(s) is located on the NIH campus in Bethesda, Maryland, a suburb of Washington, D.C. NIAMS and the NIH offer tremendous depth and breadth of intellectual and technological resources, as well as opportunities for collaboration with investigators both within and outside of the NIH. NIAMS is also a major user of the NIH Clinical Research Center, a state-of-the-art research hospital on the campus of the NIH in Bethesda, Maryland. The research environment is highly conducive to advancing basic and translational research and highly collaborative, encouraging multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary team science. The mission of NIAMS is to support research into the causes, treatment, and prevention of arthritis and musculoskeletal and skin diseases, the training of basic and clinical scientists to carry out this research, and the dissemination of information on research progress in these diseases.
