*Water Chemistry, Pollution and Technology*

The University of Copenhagen, The Faculty of Life Sciences, Department of Basic Sciences and Environment wishes to appoint a professor of Water Quality from 1st of March 2010 or as soon as possible thereafter.

*Job description*
The professor's duties will comprise research and teaching in water quality addressing water pollution and water chemistry with perspectives for ecosystem stability and health, and application to soil and water cleaning technologies. Specifically, the professor is expected to carry out research addressing the biogeochemistry of pollutants in the continuum from soils to surface water and groundwater as affected by land use. The professor is expected to use this insight in developing cleaning technologies that can reduce or prevent pollution.

The appointee must have a proven record at international level of scientific qualifications with respect to experimental research covering:

• Biogeochemistry and water chemistry
• Environmental technology in relation to soil and water cleaning

The appointee is expected to have experience with state-of-the art instrumental methods used for the analysis of inorganic and organic pollutants. The professor's main tasks are performing research and to perform research-based teaching, including participation in examinations.

The professor is expected to participate in knowledge exchange with the surrounding society, head a research group, participate in post doctorate training and in The Faculty of Life Sciences' innovation programme, be responsible for the educational guidance of assistant professors and provide guidance and participate in assessments for students on BSc, MSc and PhD levels.

Employment and remuneration will be according to the Agreement between the Danish Ministry of Finance and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations.
