The Medical Faculty of the Westfalian Wilhelms-University (Westfälische Wilhelms-Universität) Münster offers the position of a

*University Full-Professor (W3, _tenure track_)
for Myocellular electrophysiology and molecular biology*

starting as soon as possible. The professorship is associated with a section leadership in the frame of the focus professorship "Genetics of heart diseases" at the Medical Faculty. The position is tenure track, with tenure option depending on evaluation after 5 years.

Applications of both, physicians and natural scientist, come into consideration. The future chair holder of the position (male/female) must represent the field with regard to research and teaching.

With the establishment and of the announced position the Medical Faculty aims at further strengthening its research focus "Cardiovascular Medicine". The applicant should be especially experienced in the areas of cellular electrophysiology and molecular biology.

The successful candidate (male/female) must have an internationally known research profile, recognized publications and peer-reviewed funding in the field of molecular cardiology with emphasis on genetics and myocellular electrophysiology.

Candidates are expected to closely collaborate with the departments of the Heart Centre Münster, further with medical-theoretical and natural sciences institutions and to co-operate with the research focus "Cardiovascular Medicine" at the Medical Faculty, such as with the "Interdisciplinary Clinical Research Centre" (IZKF), the Center for Clinical Studies (ZKS), the Collaborative Research Centre SFB 656 (Cardiovascular Molecular Imaging), further Collaborative Research Centres (SFB 492, SFB 629, SFB-TR 3, SFB TRR 58) and the Max-Planck-Institute of Molecular Biomedicine.

If applicable, a part time clinical task in the Dept. of Cardiology and Angiology, University Hospital Münster (UKM), can be realized.

Prerequisite for the application are scientific achievements as established postdoctoral lecture qualification (habilitation), as a research scientist at a school or institution of higher education/university, at non-university institutes, industry, or comparable fields within or outside of Germany.

Applications of women are specifically invited. In the case of similar qualification, competence, and specific achievements, women will be considered on preferential terms within the framework of the legal possibilities.

Handicapped candidates with equivalent qualifications will be given preference.

According to a resolution by the Conference of the German Ministry for Science and Education of November 19th, 1999, professors with clinical tasks will principally be employed on the basis of individually negotiable contracts. The clinical duties affiliated with this professorship will be laid down in a separate contract with the University Hospital Münster (UKM).
