The Montreal Neurological Institute (MNI) of McGill University is seeking to recruit a new assistant professor whose research program will focus on the fundamental mechanisms underlying the normal function and disease in motor systems. Researchers with an interest in the biology of ALS and its treatment are particularly encouraged to apply. The successful applicant will be expected to
complement existing clinical and research activities at the MNI and conduct a vigorous, extramurally funded independent research program that augments existing programs at the MNI.

The MNI is an integral part of McGill University located in downtown Montreal. Faculty research interests span the breadth of neuroscience with exceptional strength in molecular neuroscience, brain imaging and neuropsychology. Moreover, the neuroscience community at McGill and in
greater Montreal is one of the largest and most diverse in North America. In addition, the MNI is adjacent to excellent core centres dedicated to proteomics, genomics, and bioinformatics.

We offer highly attractive salary and start-up packages and an exceedingly high quality of life in Montreal, one of North America’s greatest and most lively cities.

Applicants should have an MD, a PhD, or the equivalent and at least three years of postdoctoral research training. Applications should consist of a PDF file containing a letter outlining research interests, CV, and the names and addresses of three references. Completed PDF files should be addressed to Dr. Robert Dunn, Associate Director Scientific Affairs at facultysearch.mni@mcgill.ca and must be received by December 1, 2009.

Applications will be evaluated as they are received.

All qualified applicants are encouraged to apply; however, Canadians and permanent residents will be given priority. McGill University is committed to equity in employment and diversity. It welcomes
applications from indigenous peoples, visible minorities, ethnic minorities, persons with disabilities, women, persons of minority sexual orientations and gender identities and others who may contribute
to further diversification.
