Two Postdoc positions in the field of single-molecule biophysics are available in the Laboratory of Molecular and Cellular Biophysics in the Gruss-Lipper Biophotonics Center and the Department of Anatomy and Structural Biology at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine (www.gennerichlab.org/). Applicants with backgrounds in physics, biophysics, biochemistry, or cell biology who seek to work in a highly interdisciplinary environment are strongly encouraged to apply.

The Gennerich Lab combines single-molecule biophysics with cell biology and biochemistry to study the molecular mechanisms underlying cell division and intracellular organelle transport. The lab uses a multidisciplinary approach integrating ultrasensitive single-molecule assays (high-resolution optical trapping and single-molecule fluorescence microscopy) and genetic approaches such as homologous recombination and RNA interference to dissect the mechanisms of microtubule-based motor proteins and their associated biological processes. Current research projects focus on the molecular mechanism of the microtubule motor cytoplasmic dynein.

Successful candidates should have previous experience in optical engineering and programming (Matlab/Labview), biophysics and/or protein biochemistry, or cell biology. Interested applicants should submit a detailed curriculum vitae, a statement of research interests and/or experience, and the names of three references to Dr. Gennerich at arne.gennerich@einstein.yu.edu. Received applications will be reviewed immediately.
