The Centre of Materials and Microsystems (Fondazione Bruno Kessler, Trento, Italy) in collaboration with the University of Trento is pleased to announce the organization of the 7th edition of the Optoelectronics and Photonics Winter School. This year, the Advisory Committee of the School has chosen the topic of Physics and Applications of Optical Resonators. The school will be held from 16th to 22nd of March, 2013 in Levico Terme (TN, Italy).
The seek for compact and scalable optical and photonic components has triggered the development of a rich spectrum of micro- and nano-scale optical devices. Among these, the optical resonators have an important role as they offer possibility to confine electromagnetic radiation within ultra-small modal volumes and thus enhance dramatically light-matter interactions. For this reason, high-Q resonators have been employed in a number of fundamental investigations and applications, covering a vast spectrum of studies in telecommunications, sensing, quantum photonics, lasing and nonlinear optics.
The School will give to young students an excellent opportunity to attend a series of lectures on optical micro-/nano-resonator devices. The lectures will be held by internationally recognized experts and will cover both fundamental aspects and applications. The students will have the opportunity to interact efficiently, exchange their knowledge, discuss and learn directly from international experts in the field.
