The meetings within the Nature Chemical Biology Symposia series are the first of their kind created specially for both chemists and biologists. Outstanding speakers from both communities present primary research and discuss broader issues related to the rapidly emerging field of chemical biology.

The 2008 conference was the second of the Nature Chemical Biology Symposia series. Entitled "Chemical Neurobiology", the meeting was held in New York and brought together an international group of 150 participants. The 16 session speakers and the keynote lecture, delivered by Nobel Laureate Linda Buck, highlighted the application of chemical tools as well as an understanding of the chemistry that participates in neuronal function. The sessions themselves broadly covered four topics: chemical sensing, synapses and signaling, synthetic neurobiology, and brain matters. Read our editorial on the conference here.
