Genomic Technologies for Infectious Diseases (morning)

This session will focus on the advanced technologies and their applications in infectious diseases. Specifically, sequencing arrays, arrays for genome structure, genotyping strategies, new generation sequencing technologies will be discussed. Applications that are suited for infectious diseases such as viral pathogen identification, metagenomic strategies, and association studies relating to host-pathogen interactions will be explored along with technical demonstrations.

Web-based Genome Information Tools (afternoon)

Three interactive workshops will introduce participants to genetic and genomic databases, the UCSC Genome Browser and analysis tools within the Galaxy framework—key resources for understanding both the human genome and those of other species.

Organizers:

  • Edison Liu (Human Genome Organisation, Singapore)
  • Chris Gunter (HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, USA)
  • Martin Hibberd (Genome Institute of Singapore, Singapore)
  • Aravinda Chakravarti (American Society of Human Genetics, USA)
  • Louisa Flintoft (Nature Reviews Genetics, UK)
  • Robert Kuhn (University of California - Santa Cruz, USA)
