Nature Awards for Mentoring in Science – Japan (2009)
For its annual awards for science mentorship in 2009, Nature invites nominations of outstanding scientific mentors in Japan. Two prizes of ¥1.5 million will be awarded, one for a mid-career mentor and one for life-time achievement in mentoring.
Nominations are now open, with a closing date of 25 September 2009. The Awards will be presented on 1 December 2009 at a ceremony at the Residence of the UK Ambassador in Tokyo.

Eligibility
- Nominees for an award may be working in any discipline within the natural sciences and engineering.
- Nominees should be resident in Japan at the time of the nomination.
Nomination
- Nominees may nominate themselves or be nominated by colleagues and ex-colleagues.
- Nominations for a candidate must include independent testimonials by at least three researchers mentored by their nominee, not all over the same period.
- Nominations will only be accepted as one complete package, which must include:
1. Nomination package form: to be completed by the principal nominator
2. Nomination forms: completed by at least three researchers mentored by their nominee, not all over the same period
3. Nominee form: to be completed by the nominee, accompanied by a CV in English and Japanese
4. Complete nomination packages should sent by email to mentor@natureasia.com. - Nomination forms are available on available on the Nature Asia-Pacific website in English and Japanese .
- The closing date for nominations is 5:00 pm, Japan Standard Time, on Friday September 25, 2009.
