Science Foo Camp

Nature, O'Reilly and Google are pleased to be hosting the third annual Science Foo Camp* August 8-10, 2008, Googleplex, Mountain View, California *Invitation only

Foo Camp is an informal conference format pioneered by O'Reilly, a leading publisher of books on information technology.

There is no predefined agenda, instead attendees collaboratively create one during the first evening of the event, having shared ideas in advance through a wiki. Since the first O'Reilly Foo Camp in 2003, these events have become legendary (and much imitated) among technologists.

Nature is therefore delighted to be collaborating with Google and O'Reilly to organise the third annual Science Foo Camp, which will once again be hosted at the Googleplex. About 200 leading scientists, technologists, writers and other thought-leaders will be gathering for a weekend of discussion, demonstration and debate.

Science Foo Camp is strictly invitation only and is full, so if you haven't already received an invitation and confirmed your attendance then you cannot come — sorry. But you can read more about it on Nature's web technology blog, Nascent.
