Symposium on Biological Complexity
The Salk Institute, Nature and the Fondation Ipsen are pleased to announce the inauguration of an annual Symposium on Biological Complexity Diseases of Transcription January 11-14, 2007, La Jolla, California.
The isolation and characterization of Pol II transcription factors, the initiation machinery and chromatin modulators have shown that physiology and transcription are part of the same molecular canvas. These parallel strands of biology have merged to empower transcription as an underlying regulator of health and disease and to help us rethink physiology as an exquisite readout and a window into the dynamic aspect of the genome.
Diseases of Transcription will highlight recent advances in detailing how molecules that control gene expression directly contribute the cancer, inflammation, development, heart disease and the metabolic syndrome. In addition, special emphasis will be put on emerging strategies for therapeutic intervention
