Ecology: Speciation affects ecosystems

Evidence that speciation and adaptive radiation can change the properties of an ecosystem is a reminder of the pressing need to integrate ecosystems science and evolutionary biology.

Differences between ecosystems affect the rate and direction of evolutionary diversification. But does evolutionary diversification affect the functioning of ecosystems?
