p53-induced inhibition of Hif-1 causes cardiac dysfunction during pressure overload

Cardiac hypertrophy occurs as an adaptive response to increased workload to maintain cardiac function. However, prolonged cardiac hypertrophy causes heart failure, and its mechanisms are largely unknown.
