Shown is an ion chromatogram for quinolines within MVs, which present a major fragment ion at m/z 172. Listed on the elution profile are two quinolines, namely 4-hydroxy-2-heptylquinoline (HHQ) and 4-hydroxy-2-nonylquinoline (HNQ), and their elution times. [M + H]+ ions for HHQ and HNQ had relative masses of 244 and 272, respectively.
