Avian Flu
Up to three million courses of anti-flu drugs and a policy of isolating at-risk groups could stifle a human outbreak of avian flu in Southeast Asia, according to a new epidemiological model. By beginning a containment policy when there are 40 or fewer cases, and treating the population around each new case within two days, it should be possible to restrict an outbreak to about 150 cases, preventing millions of deaths.
