Abstract
Last month, a handful of scientists who have toyed with the idea of writing for the movies were given a masterclass by Tinseltown's finest. Jonathan Knight joined them.
In the 1997 disaster movie Volcano, whole sections of Los Angeles are demolished by lava. For advice on the film, the production crew turned to Christopher Vogler, one of Hollywood's top story consultants.
