| Gene symbols were assigned by the HUGO Gene Nomenclature Committee. Aliases correspond to other gene names/previous symbols. Gene categories were classified as follows: category 1 (red) are known genes corresponding to a complete mRNA (as annotated in Genbank); category 2 (green) are gene predictions supported by spliced ESTs but without a complete mRNA; category 3 (blue) are gene signatures supported only by gene prediction programs (e.g GENSCAN, PRED*) or by homology to orthologous/paralogous genes and category 4 (purple) are pseudogenes. cDNA sequences were extracted from the HSA21 genomic sequence (version July 2002). Gene structures were deduced by alignment of the cDNAs to the genomic sequence using the "est2genome" program. DNA strand refers to the gene orientation in the genomic sequence. ¶: genes showing identical nt sequence of the coding region between human and chimpanzee. §: genes showing identical aa sequence between human and chimpanzee. ¦: genes matching chimpanzee ESTs. | (CDS:coding sequence; nt: nucleotide; aa: amino acid).
