Marine survey sees net gain in number of fish species

There are some 20,000 different species of fish in the world's seas and oceans, about a quarter of which are still to be discovered and classified, says the first report of a census of marine life.More than 300 scientists from 53 countries are working on the Census of Marine Life (COML), a ten-year, $1-billion project due to be completed in 2010.
