Cancer: More than skin deep
Diana Bolotin & Elaine Fuchs
Abstract
Activation of the nuclear factor NF-
B has been linked with many human cancers. But in tumours of some tissues this molecule is inactive. New work examines how turning off NF-
B promotes cancer in one tissue, the skin.
What do cell death, cell proliferation, immune responses and tumour development have in common? The answer is that they are just a few of the many biological processes in mammals that are regulated by proteins of the nuclear factor NF-
B family1, 2.
