Applied physics: Spin spotting

Abstract
Being able to measure electronic spin is essential for future technologies such as 'spintronics'. The combination of two imaging methods for effective spin-detection has now been demonstrated.
A visit to any hospital shows how magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has revolutionized clinical medicine. Indeed, a manifold of resonant-imaging techniques now permeate physics, chemistry, biology, medicine, engineering and even computer science.
