Developmental biology: Solving a sticky problem
Christof Niehrs
Abstract
The Wnt family of proteins is a large one. Various combinations of its members control all sorts of developmental processes, including, it now seems, a pathway involving cell adhesion.
In this age of the genome, molecular biologists are often told that, to stay competitive, they must use genomics and in silico techniques when studying protein function. Well, here is a riddle for advocates of this approach.
