Diabetes: Dialogue between muscle and fat

Abstract
Knocking out a glucose transporter in fat cells also affects the uptake of glucose into muscle cells, which may prompt a rethink of the transporter's role in diabetes.
One of the more troublesome stresses that organisms endure is the metabolic demand imposed by unpredictable cycles of feeding and starvation. Mammals solve this problem by using complex macromolecules to store energy efficiently.
