UK defence research goes private

Some three-quarters of the British government's defence research agency is poised to be sold off into the private sector, under proposals issued earlier this week.The Defence and Evaluation Research Agency (DERA), which employs more than 11,500 staff, works on projects ranging from advanced electronics to countermeasures against biological weapons.
