Weapon lab security may hit foreign visits

Security is being tightened at the US Department of Energy's major weapons laboratories in the wake of the dismissal of a Los Alamos National Laboratory engineer for alleged involvement in a security breach.But scientists are worried that the political reaction to the leak, which may have occurred more than a decade ago, will reduce or end contacts between the laboratories and foreign scientists (see Nature 398, 96;1999).
