Muscle proteins: The clash in titin
Anthony R. Means1
According to Greek mythology, the Universe was formed and controlled by Titans — godlike giants who created order from chaos. In the same way, the most gigantic of all proteins, titin, brings order to sarcomeres (the contractile units of striated muscle) and organizes the machinery for condensation of chromosomes in dividing cells.
