During the past ten years, combinatorial chemistry has been developed and applied by the pharmaceutical industry in particular. This technology, which involves the micro-scale synthesis and screening of vast libraries of organic compounds, has resulted in great improvements in the efficiency of testing new molecules for drug activity.
