US public puts faith in science, but still lacks understanding

Public interest in science and technology is at an all-time high in the United States, even though popular understanding of basic scientific concepts remains weak, according to an extensive study for the National Science Foundation (NSF).But the study, published last week, reports that this understanding is still greater than that in many other countries, and that US faith in the ability of science to do good is markedly greater than that elsewhere.
