The International Afar Research Expedition has now recovered remains of twelve hominid individuals from geological deposits estimated to be approx 3.0 Myr in Hadar, Ethiopia. A partial skeleton represents the most complete hominid known from this period. The collection suggests that Homo and Australopithecus coexisted as early as 3.0 Myr ago.
