Oscillographic Analysis of some Proprioceptors in the Scorpion Heterometrus fulvipes

Abstract

EXCEPT for the investigations of Parry1, Pringle2, Walcott and Van Der Kloot3 and Salpeter and Walcott4 no detailed information is available about the structure and physiology of the several mechanoreceptors in arachnids. During extensive neurophysiological investigations of the arachnids in this laboratory5 we have discovered some interesting proprioceptors in the scorpion. A detailed investigation of the anatomical organization and the physiological properties of these receptors has been made6,7, and what follows is a brief report of the results.
