Effect of Urethan on Nucleic Acids

Abstract

BIOCHEMICAL investigations have not so far been successful in elucidating the mechanism of action of urethan carcinogenesis. The problem has been studied extensively from a biological standpoint and there are excellent reviews on the subject. Boyland et al.1 and Kaye2 have investigated its metabolism thoroughly, but its mode of action in the organism is still not understood. The present communication reports preliminary observations on the effect of injected urethan on the nucleic acid metabolism of mice.
