Ultrastructure of the Joint Capsule in the Rat: Presence of Two Kinds of Capillaries

THE passage of fluid and solutes in and out of the joint cavity occurs with relative ease, but the structural basis of this high permeability is not readily apparent at the level of light microscopy. A priori, one might expect it to depend on peculiarities of the synovial lining, of its vascular supply, or both.
