Immunization against Intracerebral Transplantation of a Glioma in Mice

Abstract

THIS investigation was concerned with the effects produced by immunization with glioma and adjuvant on the growth of glioma transplanted intracerebrally into mice in an isologous system. The original glioma from which this transplantable glioma was derived was induced by implanting methylcholanthrene into the brain of a mouse of the same strain. The present tumour can be inhibited by immunization with glioma and adjuvant when transplanted subcutaneously1; but similar inhibition of growth of the tumour transplanted intracerebrally was uncertain since the ‘agent’ causing tumour inhibition, or rejection systemically might not penetrate the blood brain barrier in adequate concentrations.
