Phospholipid Phosphoric Esters in the Human Placenta

G. PORCELLATI, B. CURTI & S. LUCIANI

Department of Biochemistry, University of Perugia, Perugia, Italy. Aug. 9.

ACCORDING to earlier studies of Watanabe1 the phospholipids, chiefly lecithin, account for nearly 30 per cent of the total lipids in the human placenta, but the metabolism of these compounds in this tissue is not well known. So far only the synthesis of fatty acids has been supposed to occur in the epithelial cells of the placenta.
