Abstract
IN the course of investigations on the nitrogen metabolism of plants, the distribution of free amino-acids in the leaves of a number of plant species was studied by the circular paper chromatographic technique1. The occurrence of proline and hydroxy-proline in relatively high concentrations in some of the leaves investigated prompted us to report these preliminary observations.
