Abstract
UNSTRIATED muscle has two cycles for contraction: in one cycle the energy for contraction is derived from chemical stores; in the other cycle, the energy for contraction is derived from that stored in the structure1,2. These two cycles operate upon two different contractile mechanisms respectively3.
