MUSTARD gas, or 2, 2' dichlorodiethyl sulphide, was first prepared by Guthrie in 1859, and he commented on itsvesicant properties. It is, in fact, a very versatile agent, defiling all tissues with which it comes into contact, and it is potent in the vapour as well as in the liquid phase.
