A Possible Function of the Osphradium in the Gastropoda

But the sea is a very constant medium, apart from regions near the shore or the mouths of rivers, and the osphradium is present in Gastropoda which live in the open sea under conditions where the water is never contaminated or diluted. There is certainly no correlation between the presence, or size, of the osphradium and the possible need for 'water testing'.
