Human embryonic hippocampal progenitor cells (HPC03A/07) as an in vitro model for human hippocampal neurogenesis. HPC03A/07 cells differentiate into distinct populations of MAP2-positive neurons (green, left panel) and S100β-positive astrocytes (red, left panel). Immature, GFAP-positive cells (red, right panel) do not co-localize with mature, MAP2-positive neurons (green, right panel). Cell nuclei are stained with Hoechst 33342 dye (blue).
