(a) Wright staining of a bone marrow smear reveals atypical lymphoid cells with abundant and pale cytoplasms (case 3) and (b), (c) H&E section of hairy cell leukemia; (b) Bone marrow (times 340), (c)spleen (times 680). The neoplastic cells have an ample, pale cytoplasm and a medium-sized, round, sometimes slightly irregular nucleus.
