36TH ANNUAL MCKEE PATHOLOGY SEMINAR AT CHARLESTON

The Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine, Medical University of South Carolina, will present a three-day post-graduate seminar entitled 36th Annual McKee Pathology Seminar at Charleston, SC. The seminar includes one day each of surgical pathology and cytopathology, with the third day dedicated to virtual microscopy, latest diagnostic techniques, and ancillary tests in cytopathology.

The faculty includes guest speakers and MUSC faculty. Guest faculty indlude Edmund S. Cibas, M.D., from Brigham and Women's Hospital and Harvard Medical School and Michael W. Stanley, M.D., from Hennepin County Medical Center, Minneapolis, MN. Speakers from MUSC faculty include, Drs. Janice M. Lage, Mostafa M. Fraig, Rana S. Hoda, David N. Lewin, John S. Metcalf, Mary S. Richardson, M. Timothy Smith and Cynhthia A. Welsh.

The course is intended for practicing pathologists and pathologists-in-training. The cytopathology section will also be of extreme benefit for cytotechnologists. The objective of the course is to review morphology and clinicopathologic correlation in surgical pathology and cytopathology. The faculty will address various aspects of gynecologic skin, gastrointestinal, pulmonary, breast, urinary, and thyroid pathology. Technical advances in cytopathology will also be discussed in detail by speakers from companies with expertise in automated cytology and HPV testing. Lectures will be followed by discussion periods. Each participant will receive a comprehensive course syllabus. Category I accreditation for CME credit by the American Medical Association will be awarded.

MAYO CLINIC'S 10TH INTERNATIONAL SURGICAL PATHOLOGY SYMPOSIUM

May 6–9, 2003 Dublin, Ireland

Description: This program will address common but difficult diagnostic problems encountered by surgical pathologists in every day practice. Designed to simulate daily activities of pathologists, the symposium curriculum will review case histories in identified subject matter areas, view slides microscopically and formulate appropriate diagnoses. Diagnosis, terminology and patient management strategies for each case history will be discussed by faculty and attendees.

SURGICAL PATHOLOGY FOR THE PRACTICING PATHOLOGIST: SELECTED TOPICS

The Department of Pathology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School will present a four-day postgraduate course in Surgical Pathology under the direction of Robert H. Young, M.D. with faculty as listed below. The course is being held at the Sanibel Harbour Resort and Spa, located on a private peninsula with a panoramic waterview looking towards the islands of Sanibel and Captiva, well known for their unspoiled charm. The objective of this course is to provide a comprehensive review of selected topics in surgical pathology including gastrointestinal pathology, pulmonary pathology, hematopathology, female genital tract pathology and urologic pathology. UROLOGIC SURGICAL PATHOLOGY FOR THE practicing pathologist

The Department of Pathology, Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School will present a four-day postgraduate course in Urologic Surgical Pathology under the direction of Robert H. Young, M.D. with faculty as listed below. The hotel is within a few minutes of the center of the attractive coastal town of Newport Beach and immediately adjacent to one of the largest shopping malls in the United States. The objective of this course is to provide a comprehensive review of urologic surgical pathology with special attention paid to common diagnostic problems such as prostate biopsy interpretation, recent advances and new entities. 22ND ANNUAL CURRENT ISSUES IN SURGICAL PATHOLOGY

May 15–17, 2003 Westin Galleria Hotel Dallas, Texas

The Department of Pathology, Southwestern Medical School, at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center at Dallas will present a continuing medical education symposium under the direction of Dr. Guy Lindberg.

The intensive two and one half day review is designed for practicing pathologists and other interested physicians who have the desire to remain abreast of current issues in surgical pathology. Emphasis will include both overviews of selected topics of continuing interest and update on methods for solving diagnostic problems encountered in surgical pathology. The program will include lectures with clinicopathologic correlations and question and answer sessions on non-neoplastic bone and joint disease, breast pathology, endocrine pathology, interstitial lung diseases and mesothelial proliferations, surgical neuropathology, inflammatory bowel disease, early colorectal carcinoma, skin pathology, placental pathology and immunohistochemistry.
