In situ hybridization showed leptin mRNA and leptin receptor mRNA in all lipomas, hibernomas, and liposarcomas. Leptin mRNA expression in lipoma (A) and hibernoma (B). Leptin receptor mRNA expression in well-differentiated (C) and myxoid liposarcoma (D). Nonspecific nuclear/nucleolar staining for leptin and OB-Rb mRNA was seen in some cells of liposarcoma and hibernoma (blue, positive signal; red, nuclear fast red counterstain).
