Expression of Acvrl1 and endoglin RNA using laser microdissection and RT-PCR. RNA was isolated from pulmonary arteries, veins, capillary regions and bronchioles and endoglin, Acvrl1, Pecam-1 and beta-actin expression were detected by RT-PCR products, visualized on ethidium-stained gels. A representative gel from three independent experiments is shown (a) and the relative intensity of the endoglin and Acvrl1 PCR products is illustrated (b). Endoglin and Acvrl1 RNA are not detected in proximal arteries or the bronchioles, only endoglin is detected in the proximal veins, while both receptors are seen in capillaries.
