Abstract |
 | Opioids are a commonly abused class of drugs. OxyContinÒ abuse, a long-acting oxycodone derivative, has been increasingly identified as a potent narcotic resulting in drug dependence, overdose and even death. Use during pregnancy may result in withdrawal symptoms in the neonate. However, detection of the drug and its metabolites needs special methods in order to initiate appropriate therapy.
